CARETAKER / NIGHT SECURITY OFFICER
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: 11:30 pm – 7:30 am, five nights per week with flexibility to work at weekends and to deliver security at school events.
Contract: Full-Time

Overstone Park School in Northampton is seeking a reliable, responsible and trustworthy Caretaker / Night Security Officer at their site in Maidwell to maintain the security and safety of the school premises and grounds throughout the night, alongside appropriate caretaking and premises responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
• Maintain a vigilant overnight security presence and undertake regular patrols of the school buildings, grounds and perimeter.
• Check doors, windows, gates, fencing and access points and monitor CCTV, alarms and other security systems where required.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, suspicious activity, security incidents and emergencies, contacting senior staff or emergency services when necessary.
• Maintain accurate nightly security and incident records and report damage, hazards, maintenance issues or safeguarding concerns.
• Prevent unauthorised access to the school site and follow the school’s visitor, contractor, fire, emergency, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Undertake reasonable routine caretaking and minor maintenance duties.
• Assist with opening the school and ensuring the premises are safe and ready for the start of the school day.
• Flexibility to work at weekends if required and at school events.
Person Specification
• Reliable, responsible, trustworthy and security-conscious.
• Calm and confident when responding to unexpected situations or emergencies.
• Comfortable working independently throughout the night and able to use sound judgement and initiative.
• Physically able to undertake regular site patrols and reasonable caretaking duties.
• Professional, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Previous experience in security, school caretaking, premises/facilities management, police, armed forces or a similar responsible role would be advantageous.
